Chief Investment Officer at Allianz France and Regional Chief Investment Officer for France, Benelux and Allianz Partners at Allianz Investment Management SE Matthias Seewald is Chief Investment Officer and member of the Executive Committee of Allianz France since 2013. He is also member of the Allianz Investment Management Board.
Matthias Seewald manages Allianz France's investment activities for a portfolio of approximately EUR 90 billion in 2020 (excluding unit linked assets), with a strong focus on ESG and real economy investments. Matthias Seewald created a dedicated department for ESG, Innovation and Governance to support the company’s early ambition on climate transition. This ambition is reinforced by Allianz’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality in its investment portfolios by 2050, in line with the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance. In 2021, Allianz France’s efforts to invest sustainably in the local economy were recognized by the “Les Couronnes” Award for the most active insurer in the development of real economy.
Matthias Seewald promotes collaboration and best practice sharing on emerging topics related to sustainability. He takes part in transversal working groups such as the Global Future Council on Net- Zero Transition, Finance for Tomorrow, the Energy Efficiency Financial Institutions Group committee and the Alphandery Group on carbon pricing, as an observer.
Matthias Seewald joined Allianz in 1992. He holds a business degree from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt.
