Investment to increase energy efficiency in state-owned buildings
B.E.M./BIM's "Efficiency for Berlin Properties" investment programme comprises a number of energy-related individual projects with different technical focuses and using different financing instruments. Under the programme, both intracting projects in large properties with a variety of different efficiency measures and technology-focused rollout projects are carried out.
A Revolving Fund, which enables the release of investment funds equal to the expected energy cost savings, serves as the programme's main funding pillar. In addition, a number of investment measures are implemented via equipment leases as a second financing pillar.
Energy Performance Contract models are also used in the large properties to ensure an adequate incentive structure and risk allocation in these energy efficiency projects.
In total, more than 2/3 of the approx. 30 million euro investment programme has been commissioned so far. For more than 10 million euros of investment funds, project development is already at an advanced stage, so that the award of these investments is firmly scheduled by the end of the year.
